The J-24 is the world’s most popular one-design sailboat. It is a light, fast and super fun boat on which to learn to sail, especially here in the flat, breezy waters of the USVIs.
It also meets the certification requirements of both ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat Sailing) and ASA 103 (Basic Coastal Cruising) of “demonstrated proficiency on sloop-rigged keelboats of 20′ – 27′ feet” (ASA 101) and “sloop-rigged keelboats of 25′ – 35′” (ASA 103.)
This is one of our “teaching” boats. It is not designed for extended cruising, but makes for sweet day-sailing and weekend sleep-aboards. Charter pricing is available on request.
From the J-boat website:
“There are currently 5,480 J/24s sailing in 165 fleets in 110 countries, with large J/24 fleets existing in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, India and South Africa.
The J/24 Class and its builders have provided J/24s for women’s and men’s regattas for over 35 years. On the merits of its sailing characteristics…and capability to handle all kinds of sailing conditions, the J/24 continues to be a favorite among the sailors in many community sailing programs around the world.”
Her flared topsides make her dry on deck…and she can be sailed easily by one person with only the mainsail.”
